The tree itself grows in very wet areason the banks of rivers and lakes. It is often found in large numbers of individuals forming nearly pure forests or arrayanales. The fruits are berries of purple, very dark. They ripen in October and are edible. The flowers, made with five white petals, numerous stamens are prominent in the center. They are fragrant and appear between June and August.

When you go to this wonderful restaurant that is located in downtown you will see the Mexican culture, Carmen is the owner and is always glad to serve you. On the walls huichol art is present, giving you insight into the culture of the Huichol tribes. The Arrayan-Margarita is a must have, and is without a doubt, the beverage of the house. If tequila is not for you, they have many wonderful lcocktails, beers , and soft drinks.

Enjoy the Arrayan tree on the patio. For your appetizer, I recommend you try Hibiscus Flower Quesadillas with Oaxaca cheese in freshly made corn tortillas, Plantain Empanadas From Veracruz state are truly a hit., Turnovers filled with black beans and asadero cheese are also a must try. Ceviche Guerrero made with fish, Acapulco style, with onions, cilantro, tomato puree, avocado and green olives. Duck carnitas are without a doubt a famous dish, golden and juicy. With Guajillo, orange~arrayán sauce and has been the house specialty since 2003. Beef Filet Prime quality beef tenderloin medallion, with special EL ARRAYAN Mole sauce will melt in your mouth.
The temptation of dessert will lead you to ask for Pumpkin or Yams cooked in dark sugar “piloncillo” syrup and cinnamon served with homemade organic vanilla ice cream.
Every Saturday (during winter season) evening from 7:00 pm on ,while you dine at EL ARRAYÁN RESTAURANT, enjoy the music of Frijoleros Música.
